A Privilege To Hear Jonathan’s Story – It Is So Inspirational

I’ve have some wonderful reviews of my book, Fear Conquers All, in fact, many have blown me away.

Then yesterday, at a point I thought the interest was waning in it, as I’ve struggled so far to get an agent or a publisher to push this for me (so difficult to get noticed in this market) I got this wonderful review:

I absolutely loved this book for two reasons.

Firstly, because it’s an authentic, honest, no holds barred account of a person’s struggles in life and how he has worked (and worked) to overcome them. It felt a privilege to hear Jonathan’s story and to feel so connected to it, through the openness of the writing and the poetry.

The second reason I loved this book so much is because it’s so inspirational. Jonathan’s messages of determination and optimism, no matter what life throws at you, have helped me, and I’m sure many others, and really do provide a ‘kick up the ar*e’. But it’s not just that, the tales of Jonathan’s generosity, compassion and civic mindedness are also truly inspirational. The book has made me truly, want to be a better person – to be a bit more Fear.

This really is why I was keen to write it, to give the message not to give up, even during the hardest of times – a good message for right now isn’t it?! But also to try to inspire people.

I thanked the person, Nat, who sent me the review and she replied – as I had said I was always very much a closed book before, never talked about my health, just batted on and kept things to myself. Now, I am literally, an open book!

She replied:

Got to be so weird for you. I honestly think it’s great you have done it. I’ve tended to work with men in my career and so many of them have been impacted by, and/or believed in, the stereotypes and pressures around men not showing emotion and vulnerability. It’s hard for anyone to open up about the hard stuff, but for men there’s that extra dimension. And the fact that men don’t do it so much, has got to be a factor in the male suicide rate. It’s just terrifying. So I honestly think it’s incredible that you’ve taken that leap.

So, I’ve taken the leap, why don’t you? Buy a copy and Get Up, Get Out, Live (after lockdown!)
